The Role

If yes, you may be the right fit for our Accounting Consultant role.
The Accounting Consultant is being engaged on a fixed-term project to support LMH Ethiopia’s Accounting and Finance team with critical tasks related to compliance, financial accuracy, and timely reporting. The consultant will play a key role in ensuring that accounting practices are aligned with both internal policies and external regulations, while also maintaining high standards of financial integrity and documentation. This role is essential to strengthening the financial management processes and ensuring audit readiness.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the Consultant will provide hands-on support to all projects under the LMH Ethiopia program. This includes assistance with time-sensitive activities such as processing disbursements, ensuring proper documentation, facilitating tax clearances, recording financial transactions, and supporting month-end close activities. The consultant will work closely with the in-country finance team to ensure that all financial operations run smoothly and are completed within the required timelines.
This Consultancy is located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is open to Ethiopian nationals
Consultancy Details
- Commitment: Estimation of 22 days per month, 8 hours per day
- Location: Ethiopia
- Duration: August 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025
Scope of Work
Tax Clearance Support
- Complete online tax payment forms and other related documents for monthly tax payments.
- Prepare monthly tax and pension payment documents
- Collect payment advice from the bank and payment receipts (online receipts or printed ones) from ERCA
Disbursement Support
- Prepare payment vouchers and ensure that vouchers are signed properly.
- Prepare checks and ensure they are signed by authorized bank signatories.
- Withhold appropriate taxes and issue withholding tax receipts to vendors for taxes withheld.
- Keep custody of unused checks.
Bank Process Support
- Handle bank processes, including preparing transfer letters, facilitating interbank transfers, and collecting bank transfer advice/slips.
- Collect deposit advice from the bank for all incoming funds to LMH accounts, issue receipt vouchers, and properly maintain documentation.
Program Staff Support
- Supporting program staff at regions and the Central Office as required.
Document Handling Support
- Ensure that documents are sequentially filed for ease of access and future reference and maintained in safe places.
- Maintain accurate financial documents for all payments and receipts
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree with experience in Accounting and Finance. A Master's degree in Accounting and Finance, or a related field, will be an advantage.
- Progressive years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the work areas highlighted in the scope of work.
- Demonstrated experience working in an NGO setting
- Familiarity and proficiency in accounting software and applications such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Sage, Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, etc.
- Ability to work with a diverse team.
- Comfortable working in teams as well as acting independently in the implementation of specific tasks, prioritizing, working under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
You’ll Impress Us If:
- You have experience in the development sector
- You have familiarity with the Community Health Information System and DHIS2
- You have experience generating and using data with the government.
