Director, Partnerships and Major Gifts

The Role

At Last Mile Health (LMH), we are all in this together. Do you have experience managing individual giving and major gift portfolios while building and maintaining relationships with funding partners? If so, you could be our next Director of Partnerships and Major Gifts.   

Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, the Director of Partnerships & Major Gifts will lead and support the cultivation and stewardship of LMH's funding partners in a fashion that meaningfully engages partners and cultivates a values-aligned donor community. This individual will manage LMH’s individual giving and major gifts portfolios and provide leadership for LMH’s donor facing events & site visits. In concert with the Partnerships & Communications (P&C) team, this individual will deepen and strengthen relationships with LMH’s funding partners, primarily focused on individuals and family foundations, to finance the organization’s short-term and long-term expansion. The Partnerships & Communications team is responsible for raising upwards of $US 25 million annually, and the Director of Partnerships & Major Gifts is a critical player in achieving that goal.

This position is open to candidates located in Liberia, Malawi, Uganda, or on the Eastern seaboard of the United States. Candidates must have work authorization in one of the countries listed above. 

What You'll Do

  • Set & achieve revenue targets associated with individual giving, high net worth individuals, and family foundations
  • Leverage research tools and LMH relationships to identify prospects and build the pipeline of family foundations and high net worth individuals
  • Build LMH relationships with ecosystem actors (e.g., philanthropy affinity groups) to increase engagement with individuals, high net worth individual donors, and family foundations 
  • Develop and implement cultivation plans, including crafting pitches & asks
  • Manage LMH’s annual donor appeal, which occurs at the end of each calendar year
  • Maintain responsiveness to inbound requests from donor and ecosystem partners
  • Provide strategic oversight and communications guidance for donor facing events, including site visits 
  • Plan and manage internal coordination of LMH’s donor-facing events
  • Establish stewardship and engagement tactics for members of LMH’s Advisory Council, collaborating with teams across LMH as needed
  • Support the implementation of P&C’s content collection system and tailor content for donor communications & deliverables
  • Ensure integration of cultivation and stewardship approaches and processes with LMH’s project and knowledge management systems

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Several years of experience in fundraising, development, and/or non-profit management with a proven track record of securing five- to six-figure gifts from individuals and family foundations
  • Experience connecting with donors and thoughtfully managing donor relationships
  • Extremely strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft and effectively communicate key messages
  • Proven planning & logistics experience with a highly detail oriented mindset
  • Ability to assess existing systems and processes & recommend improvements aligned to organizational and team objectives 
  • Proven prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously 

You’ll Impress Us If 

  • You have previous marketing and communications experience
  • You are proficient in Salesforce
  • You have experience in health, global health, or international development

The Band for this position: SLB-5

For all countries, the salary range is: $90,000 - $118,000 dependent upon experience doing an equivalent role
