The Role

At Last Mile Health, we are all stewards of our reputation and resources. Do you have demonstrated experience in operations workstreams? If so, you might be the right candidate to join the Last Mile Health (LMH) Ethiopia Office as the Operations Assistant.  

Reporting to the Operations Coordinator, the Operations Assistant plays a critical role in support of Last Mile Health’s (LMH) work in Ethiopia by liaising with LMH’s global business services teams through the management of key operations workstreams at the country level; including procurement, logistics, compliance, people operations as well as event coordination.  

This position is only open to candidates who are located in and authorized to work in Ethiopia. 

Project Details:

  • Commitment – 6 months (renewable)

What You'll Do

  • In accordance with LMH’s procurement policy, place office supply orders and facilitate technical team procurement requests.
  • Manage and administer both inter-city taxis and 4x4 rentals for field work
  • Provide office management support for day to day running of the office including maintaining contacts for utilities. 
  • Maintain Ethiopia office communication accounts (airtime, internet costs) 
  • Support and build procurement and import processes for key programmatic supplies, assets and commodities as needed 
  • Review and renew vendor contracts
  • Work with Operations Coordinator and Finance Manager to ensure all filings and reports (as they relate to operations or people operations) are submitted on time and complete to the government regulations.
  • Ensure that all employees understand LMH policies
  • Transportation arrangement for Trainings and Workshop (Air tickets and ground transportation)
  • Venue and Accommodation booking
  • Assist with Perdiem payments for participants 
  • Make sure all necessary materials are ready for the event.
  • Support the people operations team to manage human resource functions in the country.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Relevant years of professional experience in business operations, procurement, systems building and team coordination.
  • Ability to work independently with support from a remote team
  • Strong project management skills
  • Attention to detail, deadlines, and quality of delivery 
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, start-up work environment, accepting of change and comfortable with ambiguity
