If so, you may be the perfect fit for the Consultant, Program Performance role in Ethiopia.
The Consultant, Program Performance in Ethiopia is responsible for supporting strategy coordination, strategic planning, and performance monitoring efforts to maintain the effectiveness of the Ethiopia country program for a 5 month duration. The role ensures that the Ethiopia Country Director and Director of Programs have the necessary information to oversee key programmatic and operational aspects. Additionally, this role collaborates closely with the Global Program Strategy and Performance Team to maintain alignment with standard strategic and performance practices. The Consultant will support program effectiveness through strategic planning coordination, outcome monitoring, grant oversight, and optimization of systems and processes.
This role is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and is open to candidates who are located in and have work authorization in Ethiopia.
Consultancy Details

Scope of Work
Program Strategy
- Collaborate with the Partnerships and Communications team to package and disseminate the country strategy.
- Integrate the country strategy into annual planning, lead periodic strategy reviews, and design specific programmatic interventions with support from the Country Director.
Program Planning and Performance
- Maintain comprehensive dashboards for tracking program progress, performance, and risk.
- Facilitate monthly OKR reviews and quarterly program performance reviews, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, targets, and timelines.
- Conduct costing analysis, monitor budgets and expenditures, and ensure grant commitments and milestones are met.
- Support proposal development, grant lifecycle management, and project setup including scope, roles, and budgets.
Proposal Development & Donor Engagement
- Lead development of high-quality proposals, donor decks, and strategic write-ups, ensuring messaging aligns with donor priorities and grant reporting requirements.
Facilitation and Coordination
- Serve as liaison between the Ethiopia Country Program and Global Teams, providing project management support for interdepartmental working groups and aligning country support requests with global technical services.
Team Systems Building & Culture
- Drive continuous improvement in team structures, operational processes, and collaboration models, contributing to broader culture-building initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in a fast-paced NGO, business, or government setting.
- Proven experience in performance improvement and project or operations management.
- Strong project and process management skills.
- Ability to identify opportunities to integrate or simplify processes.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of managing multiple projects across teams, cultures, and time zones.
- Commitment to health, social justice, and gender equity.
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training in project management is a plus.
- Experience in public health, management consulting, or public policy organizations is preferred.
